Travel Insurance for pre existing medical conditions - advice welcomed.
First things first yes I know it's not about West Ham although you could say that supporting West Ham is the reason for a host of medical conditions and the need for a holiday!!!

Anyway, off away on a Cruise for a week and I have been hunting around for travel insurance which covers medical conditions that you have to declare even if as in my case they are under control with medication.

It's not the price so much that's the problem on these comparison sites it's just that generally the cheaper ones are from companies you have never heard of and there are so many options.

So if anyone can advise if they use a particular provider where the cover is good, reasonable and will cover cruises that's good enough for me and advice will be gratefully received.

Played bloody well yesterday by the way, great result. - See a West Ham reference for those who hate threads not about our beloved Hammers!!!

Thanks fellas had a look through all of those and was delighted when Saga cut me off saying I was too young!!! Ended up going through a broker and got a decent policy for £23.43 so happy enough with that.

Car Insurance was due as well and after my usual insurers put it up £60 despite no claims etc I got a decent deal with John Lewis Insurance so take a look at them if your Car Ins is due.

Try World First. I have used them a number of times.

Have a look at Insure & Go online.

If you don't want to queer your pitch up front, set up your 'exploratory' quote as Joe Bloggs or whatever, get the numbers for the standard cover (I tend to have the Silver, which is more than adequate), then complete the info for disclosed illnesses / conditions and check the price difference etc. It's all done with drop down boxes on a menu type facility, so it's very easy to put in the info.

Good luck.

Zico, Joe Royal has it right, my parents have been travelling extensively for years until bad health struck Dad heart, mum osteoporosis. No one would insure them to fly, so started cruising from Southampton. As you know Cruise ships have doctors on board which helps.

Then as further medical problems got worse even the insurance on the cruise ships didn't want to know, they became uninsurable except one Saga Cruises as they underwrite their own insurance I believe. They continued to travel on Saga Cruises although I think they eventually became restricted to the Med Criuses as apposed to Caribbean and others. Saga used to send a car around to pick them up and push mum up to board in a wheelchair, but gave up a few years back as in too much pain in the end.

How old are you?

Go through Saga insurance , not the cheapest but recomended by my dad and also by a friends parents.

Wouldn't have thought you would have to be over 50 to qualify ..

Some insurance companies include certain conditions, some don’t.

Zico - I've used BIg Blue travel insurance in recent years and it included a cruise (Alaska). Joint annual, worldwide multi trip cover about £100 for and Mrs Westside. No winter sports

I didn't cover my pre - existing condition (but they will), but my pre - existing condition won't "blow up" in a cruise/holiday. It's a long term thing, which is being monitored not treated. I appreciate this may not suit your circumstances.

Happy to go into the gory details on WhoMail, to save boring people rigid.
